For Duvel Tripel Hop Citra, we use the aromatic Citra hop variety. This aromatic third hop variety is grown in the Yakima Valley in Washington and enriches the flavor profile with fresh notes of grapefruit and tropical fruits.
My thoughts
Duvel Citra is a remarkable beer: brilliantly bright in the glass, with a light and agile body that makes it feel far more effortless than its strength would suggest. Served very cold, around 5°C, it becomes exceptionally refreshing, delivering an intense burst of citrus on both nose and palate over Duvel’s familiar dry, elegant Belgian core. The bitterness is judged beautifully: firm enough to keep the beer taut and lively, yet never harsh or intrusive. Everything about it feels precise, lifted and dangerously easy to drink. It is the sort of beer that disappears far too quickly, leaving behind the distinct impression that one glass was never going to be enough.
